Professional Growth: AI, Technology, and Storytelling
One area I'm actively growing in is learning how to combine AI with video production, marketing, and business systems to become a more effective storyteller and creative professional.
Technology has always been a big part of my career. I enjoy learning new tools and finding better ways to solve problems. I was building and flying drones before they became mainstream, became a certified Steadicam operator, and have continually trained with industry professionals because I believe staying current with technology is essential in this industry.
Over the past 20 years, I've worked on feature films, short films, documentaries, television, commercial campaigns, and corporate productions. I've directed hundreds of interviews and commercial videos and have had the opportunity to work with companies such as Target, Best Buy, Berkley Fishing, Yamaha, FICO, JLL, and SDK. Working across so many different types of productions has made me a more versatile filmmaker and director.
I've also worked in digital marketing since 2012, where I've embraced new technologies and AI powered tools to analyze data, better understand customer behavior, improve SEO, and help clients achieve better results.
Today, I'm applying that same mindset to video production. I use AI to help with research, script development, storyboards, and analyzing long interviews to quickly identify the strongest moments and make editing more efficient. I don't use AI to replace creativity. I use it to eliminate repetitive tasks so I can spend more time focusing on storytelling.
I'm also learning to build AI powered applications to improve my own workflow by organizing projects, streamlining repetitive processes, and making production more efficient.
For me, continuous learning has always been part of my career. Whether it's mastering new camera systems, learning digital marketing, or exploring AI, my goal has always been the same: keep improving, embrace new technology, and use it to create better work and deliver greater value.
